Recertification of The Communicator! NXT product comes at a critical time when our armed forces are working to adopt and deploy robust notification technologies in support of installation emergency management operations."
Franklin, TN (PRWEB) November 03, 2011
Cassidian Communications, an EADS North America company, today announced the recertification of version 4.0 of The Communicator!® NXT™ mass notification solution by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). JITC conducted interoperability testing for The Communicator! NXT solution at its Global Information Grid Network Test Facility in Fort Huachuca, Ariz., and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Certifying Authority granted certification approval on Aug. 31. This certification, which allows The Communicator! NXT solution to appear on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Approved Products List, will remain in effect until Oct. 13, 2014.
“Recertification of The Communicator! NXT product comes at a critical time when our armed forces are working to adopt and deploy robust notification technologies in support of installation emergency management operations,” said Ben Brewer, business development and certifications manager for the Notification Solutions and Services business unit of Cassidian Communications. “As a vital component of a comprehensive, integrated emergency mass notification strategy, this solution provides installation commanders the ability to meet stringent DoD requirements to alert 100 percent of the installation population within ten minutes of incident identification and verification.”
JITC is a military organization that tests technologies employed by U.S. armed forces and multiple U.S. government agencies as instructed by DISA. JITC professionally tests, operationally evaluates and certifies IT capabilities for joint interoperability, enabling information dominance and increasing warfighter effectiveness for the nation. JITC comprises six key divisions: Operational Test and Evaluation; Business Management; Command and Warfighter Support; Strategic Planning and Engineering; Test Operations Networks and Infrastructure; and Facilities.
JITC certification of The Communicator! NXT solution means the application is approved to interface with the Defense Switched Network (DSN) and Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), providing DoD installations a reliable and secure means for mass notification and team mobilization. Accordingly, hundreds of operations worldwide rely on The Communicator! NXT solution to alert commanders, on- and off-duty personnel, Emergency Operations Center staff and others in critical situations, as well as gather crucial feedback such as the estimated time of arrival of responders. Proven uses include staff recalls, inclement weather and fire evacuations.
“With enhancements to information system security, including Single Sign-On, Active Directory integration, and comprehensive application audit logging,” added Brewer, “system owners can be confident they are employing a highly secure notification solution that mitigates residual risks inherent to hosted, off-premise systems, such as denial-of-service attacks and risks to transmitting personally identifiable information via non-secure means.”
Cassidian Communications continues to serve clients ranging from public safety operations to Fortune 100 corporations to federal agencies. Collectively, the company has more than 40 years of experience deploying 9-1-1 call processing solutions, notification solutions and first responder digital trunked radio networks.
