Maritime Ford is a premier Lincoln and Ford dealership in Manitowoc, WI. This month, the 2013 Ford Escape will be debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show with an impressive new feature. A segment first, the Escape will feature a hands-free liftgate that opens with keyless technology. With a simple kicking gesture under the rear bumper, the hands-free liftgate reacts to motion-sensing, gesture-based technology.

Jason Sprawka, Escape’s Brand Manager said, “The hands-free power liftgate is yet another innovative Ford technology that makes customers’ lives easier.” He continued, “New Escape owners will be able to load their vehicle without ever having to set packages or gear down.”

The hands-free liftgate technology is in conjunction with the Ford’s Intelligent Access push-button start. It allows the driver to unlock and start his or her vehicle conveniently and safely. The liftgate uses two sensors in the rear bumper to detect a person’s shin or kicking motion. Accidental openings will be prevented with system safeguards and programming. The liftgate will open and close with the same technology. Liftgate height can be adjusted to meet specific customer needs.

Maritime Ford offers new and used Ford vehicles in Wisconsin. Review the dealership’s full inventory online or on-site today to stay updated on the arrival of the all-new 2013 Ford Escape equipped with hands-free power liftgate technology.
