Brad Leiby, CEO of Uncommon Solutions, has joined the Board of Directors of Friends for Youth, a non-profit organization which helps at-risk Colorado youth reach their full potential by providing adult mentors, safe gathering places, and challenging experiences.
Formed in 1998, Friends for Youth supports over 250 youth each year whose life circumstances put them at risk for homelessness and incarceration as adults. Through a focus on long-term relationships between positive adult role models and youth, Friends for Youth helps teens exit the juvenile justice system, stay in school, and pursue their personal goals.
“It’s an honor to join the Friends for Youth team,” stated Brad Leiby, “Friends for Youth has proven repeatedly that life on life mentoring can permanently change the course of a young person’s life for the better. Through mentoring, teens who would otherwise be on their way toward a life of crime, substance abuse, or both are discovering that they are worthy of unconditional love. In response, we’ve seen these same teens give back, yielding a positive transformation in their communities and in the lives of their mentors.”
Uncommon Solutions has been an avid supporter of Friends for Youth for several years. Twice a year, company employees lead the Media Technologies Group, a mentoring community that builds basic computing, graphic design, web, and programming skills. This thirteen-week course develops interests and job skills in at-risk teen girls.
