IMC, Inc. was able to lend a helping hand to one of its clients, Northway Industries, Inc. which resulted in boosting the company’s productivity, sales, customer access, and employee engagement through a newly implemented web-based computer system.

Northway Industries, Inc. is a privately held company, composed of 138 employees that provide quality contract manufacturing services in the areas of high pressure laminates, melamine, vinyl, paper, and wood veneer products to produce cabinets, countertops, work surfaces, fixtures, kits, and more. Operations consist of CNC controlled machining, milling, routing, and banding.

On two separate occasions Northway Industries requested assistance from IMC. The first time was in 2005 when the company was switching things up from mass production to mass customization, making smaller batch orders possible. IMC was able to coach them in LEAN and cellular manufacturing. With these new manufacturing systems came the increase in production speed and efficiency and apparent need for a more comprehensive computer information system.

Northway Industries reached out to IMC once again to assist in planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive information system that would allow project data to be managed more effectively. Northway CEO Don O’Hora calls the new system the “total information system” which links all aspects of the project and client relation into one centralized and easily accessible online location.

The new web-based solution system has allowed Northway Industries sales to increase from an annual $800,000 to a now $2 million. The system has also allowed the company to save approximately $100,000 as a result of less administrative work that was previously required in order to process information.
