GOAutoPlus.com is Wisconsin’s Premier Auto Resource for new and used vehicles in Wisconsin. Earlier this week Ford announced that the all-electric 2012 Ford Focus sedan would be available in North America by next year. California and New York/New Jersey markets will be the first to experience limited quantities of the Focus Electric. As production increases, the Focus will be available in 15 other launch markets.
In a Ford press release, the automaker said that drivers who “want to go completely gasoline-free will be able to configure the all-new 2012 Ford Focus Electric online at Ford.com and place their orders with a certified electric vehicle dealer.”
Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Orlando, Phoenix, Seattle and Washington, D.C. are among the markets to receive the all-new Focus Electric. The automaker chose these launch markets based on “commuting patterns, existing hybrid purchase trends, utility-company collaboration and local-government commitment to electrification,” Ford explained.
The Focus Electric will be the automaker’s first all-electric passenger vehicle planned to launch in North America by next year. Powered exclusively by a new lithium-ion battery system, the Focus Electric will allow drivers to never need a drop of gas ever again. The sedan is designed to help reduce energy loss and heat generation, while reducing the driver’s carbon footprint.
Equipped with a 240-volt charging station, MyFord Touch with Unique EV content are small changes that will make a huge impact. Intelligent Access with push-button start, MyKey technology, regenerative braking and brake coach technology offer a safer, more efficient driving experience for both the driver and the environment. Even the Focus Electric’s interior will be optimized to improve the environment.
