The Firm will also send a contingent of volunteers to participate with the Miami Dolphins “Special Teams,” a volunteer organization that serves the community and provides assistance at Miami Dolphin Foundation events. They have even gotten the kids involved with several kids joining the DCC “Kids Ride” on behalf of the Firm, where participants will learn that cancer can affect everyone, not just adults, as the funds they raise will be designated to benefit children being treated at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Firm’s Director of Community Involvement, Jennifer Stearns Buttrick, who also serves as a member of the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Board of Governors said, “We are honored to support the 2011 Dolphin Cycling Challenge and equally proud of each one of our team members and volunteers who are fundraising and spreading the word about cancer research. Sylvester relies heavily on the generous support of donors, friends, and volunteers to fuel its fight against cancer. Wonderful events like the DCC help raise awareness and help us get closer to a cure.”
Launched in 2010, the Dolphins Cycling Challenge (“DCC”) is a two-day tri-county charity cycling event coordinated by the Miami Dolphins Foundation. In its inaugural year, DCC raised $533,106 for Sylvester, setting the bar high for future rides. This year the Dolphins Cycling Challenge will honor Dolphins legend Jim “Mad Dog” Mandich who led the team on and off the field for over 40 years and lost his courageous battle with cancer this spring.
