Visitors opt for a Destination Management Company offering knowledge and expertise to overcome language and logistics issues.

The South of France welcomes more than 30 million visitors each year and, lured by sun, luxury goods, gourmet food or maybe a business deal, the number is growing. Language and logistics can be confusing, however, even for seasoned travelers, many opt for the luxury of a destination management company (DMC) to ease their path. A DMC offers extensive local knowledge and expertise and services range from organizing customized activities and tours to providing a personal shopper, a sailboat or a limousine.

“Think of it as a personal concierge with the best local insider information and connections or better still, someone to simply take care of your every need,” says Nancy McGee, President of Absolutely Southern France, a DMC located in Montpellier. “People are always enchanted by the colours, flavours and scents of the Mediterranean region,” she adds, noting that Chinese and American visitors are her most loyal clients. (Chinese visitors alone accounted for 300 000 visitors to the region in 2010)

One of the most popular destinations is the Languedoc-Roussillon, which has seen a 3.6% percent growth in tourism this year. Rich in history and culture, it has much to offer, including the spectacular 'La Cité' at Carcassonne, the wild horses and flamingoes of the Camargue, the historical arenas in Nimes, world class wineries and the best beaches in the French Mediterranean. Indoor and outdoor music festivals abound in the summer, while winter sports are abundant in the Alps and Pyrenees.

Nancy McGee launched Absolutely Southern France this year and provides services as small as making a restaurant reservation, to as big as arranging a wedding or corporate retreat. She has held a number of positions in Corporate Event Management and Public Affairs in France, acquiring in-depth knowledge of the French lifestyle as well as extensive social and professional contacts. In addition she is President of a social network in southern France and participates in fundraising events.
