At the Sleeter Group’s 2011 Accounting Solutions Conference, SmartVault, a leading provider of SaaS document storage and sharing solutions, announced its major year-end service update. With this new update, firms will save time communicating with clients and can securely share documents quickly and easily—all while meeting strict requirements for breach-of-privacy laws and compliance with IRS codes regarding the transfer of digital information. New features in the service update are scheduled for release on November 15, 2011, and include:
- Email Notifications—Users can set up the system to automatically receive email notifications when documents are uploaded or downloaded, as well as specify how frequently they want to receive notifications.
- Full Text Search—Users can search for files uploaded to their account using keywords contained within the body of a searchable Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF document.
- Improvements to Sharing—Sharing files is easier and more intuitive. Users see at-a-glance who has access to each folder, and can easily configure sharing and notifications on new folders.
- Quick Start Service—Users can take advantage of services that will accelerate the adoption of SmartVault in their firm such as bulk user upload and folder creation, custom branding, custom training for firm and clients, and one-time data migration.

In October, SmartVault also released a major update to their Software Developer Kit (SDK). The main enhancement was the inclusion of REST API’s, which provide a platform-independent API to develop web-, desktop-, and mobile-based applications that can integrate with SmartVault. This update represents the company’s commitment to providing tools to developers that make it easy to embed document management functionality in their applications. Customers benefit from storing their document once in the Cloud and accessing it from a variety of applications and devices.
