Newington, N.H. (PRWEB) November 09, 2011
More than 10,000 non-members have used shower facilities at Planet Fitness gyms in New England during the power outages caused by the October snowstorm.
In an effort to help struggling communities, Planet Fitness has opened the doors at its more than 100 New England gyms to the public, allowing people without power to use clubs’ showers and locker rooms free of charge.
The company did the same thing after Hurricane Irene struck in late August, and thousands of residents in several states took advantage then.
“A lot of our neighbors have been without electricity, water and other important services for an extended period, and there aren’t a lot of businesses that have the facilities to help them,” said Chris Rondeau, the Planet Fitness operations chief. “In a situation like this, we feel that it’s our mission to step up and help.”
People interested in using a nearby Planet Fitness facility should find out first whether the location is open. A few clubs are in towns that have been hit hard with power outages.
