As Mexicans wait with anticipated breath Latin America’s largest infidelity service, Ohhtel.com, finally launches in Mexico.
Mexico’s launch quickly follows highly successful campaigns in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru and most recently Paraguay; promoting its controversial tagline: “The real secret to a lasting marriage” something that has seemed to resonate with Latin Americans with over 600,000 married men and women joining the discreet dating service in just its first 6 months of operation.
Originally planned for August on the heels of a successful Brazil campaign, company executives delayed launching in Mexico to allow for some major modifications to the service that Latin Americans were requesting. “Latin Americans are a vocal group,” explains company spokesperson, Marga Bosanac. “And we want them to know we’ve listened.”
One feature the company is most excited about is the launch of their virtual 'VIP Lounge' filled with men and women who are online at the same time and looking to have a discreet affair. Members can just log into the Lounge and have private conversations in real time. As Bosanac puts it, “Nightclubs just don’t have a chance anymore.” Other features include Perfect Matches, where the Ohhtel search engine matches you with people who are looking for the exact thing as you. “If you are looking for a passionate affair but only available during lunch hours,” explains Bosanac. “our Perfect Matches feature will provide you with a list of other members looking for the exact same thing.”
Changes to the affair service weren’t just relegated to new features, the company completely overhauled its payment model to better suit the needs of Latin Americans. “Latin Americans are very social people,” explains Bosanac. “They can talk for hours on end and so a credit based system where they have to pay for chat time simply wasn’t affordable for them. We recognized this and decided to change the service to monthly subscriptions which allows them to chat as long as they want at no extra cost.”
Although the company has met a variety of roadblocks preventing them from getting their marketing messages out the way they would have liked, membership and has exceeded their original forecast by 337%. “We originally only planned on launching in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico this year but since our first launch in Argentina six months ago we have had so many Latin Americans contact us wanting to know when we’ll be coming to their country.” explains company director, Martin Frankel. “It was the classic case of ‘If we build it, they will come’ so we stepped up our launch plans to include any other country where we new there was huge demand. Latin America is just the first step. In 2012 we plan to take over Europe and continue to be the number one option for men and women in sexless marriages who need to find physical or emotional intimacy elsewhere.“
