OneButton, the company responsible for the audio systems at Chipotle Mexican Grill (http://www.chipotle.com), has been selected to develop the sound design and music experience for the Washington, D.C. restaurant, ShopHouse Asian Kitchen.
“We took many elements into consideration while designing this system,” said OneButton founder Matt Emmi. “Space, personality and aesthetics all play a roll. We want the music to add to the experience, not dominate it. When you enter a location that has the music properly tuned to the environment, you notice. It enhances your overall experience.”
ShopHouse director Tim Wildin added, “We worked together to create the entire music experience from scratch. Nothing was taken off-the-shelf. The playlist, integration of the speakers into the design, and the tuning of the acoustics is designed specifically for ShopHouse.”
A unique feature of OneButton’s audio system for ShopHouse is that it allows the restaurant to instantly emphasize local or up-and-coming artists.
OneButton partnered with Studio Orca (http://www.studioorca.com) to develop a custom music playlist for ShopHouse, hand-selected by its founder, Chris Golub. “We created a musical identity that draws from the bold and complex flavors of the food and clean modern lines of the restaurant,” said Golub. “The goal was to create a warm, uplifting, distinct and moving mix for the ShopHouse guest.”
OneButton is headquartered in New York, N.Y. with a branch in Boulder, Colo. ShopHouse (http://shophousekitchen.com), a Southeast Asian fast-casual restaurant, opened its doors Sept. 15, 2011 and is located in Washington, D.C.
