POPVOX, the transparent online platform for advocacy about bills in Congress, today released the results of a second week of its “Super Committee Hub,” where individuals can weigh in on proposals submitted to the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction.
For the second week running, the proposal that garnered the most activity was a Millionaire's Tax, with 64% support; 36% opposition, with 378 responses. The second most active proposal was the elimination of tax preferences for oil and gas companies. With 358 weighing in, 77% supported elimination of the preferences, while 23% opposed.
For a second week, the most popular proposal (by percent supporting) on the Super Committee Hub was elimination of commodity crop subsidies, with 95% supporting. The second most popular proposal by percent was Reducing Spending on Non-DoD Federal Service Contractors by 15 Percent, with 90% supporting (up 1% from last week.)
The proposals with the least support by percent remained constant in week 2:
--> Raising Medicare premiums was the least popular, with 79% opposing (from 77% opposing last week.)
--> Increasing TRICARE Drug Co-pays again were the second least popular proposal, with 66% opposing (from 65% opposing last week.)

Proposals remain on the list and individuals can continue to weigh in. Ten new proposals were added this week, including: Reinstating the SuperFund Tax, Tort Reform, Raising Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67, Increasing aviation and security fees, Withdrawal of 20,000 troops from Europe
