Edutainment Media today announced it has licensed the World-Class Sales Competency Model from the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD). The model will be integrated into the company’s Self-Directed Learning Engine (SDLE), making it possible for individuals to assess themselves against the defined competencies, instantly generating training activity recommendations where they fall below the required proficiency.

The ASTD World‐Class Sales Competency Model is a significant addition to any technique and program based approach to sales training. It is inclusive and broad based, expanding the view to include the competencies required by everyone directly responsible for revenue generation. The model is backed by research and input from sales professionals, practitioners, and academics from around the world. It defines the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for world‐class sales competence.

Edutainment Media Managing Partner, Cheryl Lasse, said, “Adoption of the ASTD World-Class Sales Competency Model makes the model instantly actionable. Using a well defined and validated model like this one ensures our customers can perform comprehensive self-assessments, eliminating the time required to create one on their own. The synergy between the ASTD World-Class Sales Competency Model and the automation and intelligence delivered by the SDLE to individual employees empowers employees to identify personalized development needs and perform career planning like never before.”

Stuart Rogers, Edutainment Media’s CEO, said, “We elected to partner with ASTD because of their expertise in competency model development, the rigor they apply to the process, and their reputation creating competency models that define the standards of excellence for the learning profession. We’re so pleased with the value this relationship creates for our customers.”

Michael Galvin, ASTD’s Sales Enablement Community Manager, said, “We are thrilled that Edutainment Media is integrating our World-Class Sales Competency Model into their Self-Directed Learning Engine. We created the model to help organizations identify learning gaps that can be effectively addressed through accurately directed learning and development.
