This Friday, November 11th, is nationally recognized as Veteran’s Day and will pay homage to the sacrifices that those brave men and women, who serve and have served our country, have made. On that day the Folds of Honor Foundation will host a Patriot’s Day Golf Tournament throughout the Austin, Texas area. Eight different golf courses will partake in the day’s events, as well as numerous national and local figures. The golf courses that will be participating in the day’s events include; Austin Country Club, Barton Creek, Escondido, The Hills of Lakeway, Horseshoe Bay Resort, Spanish Oaks and The University of Texas Golf Club. A large shotgun event is also planned for 11:11 AM on 11/11/11 at the Greyrock Golf Club.
Not only will there be a golf outing, there will also be an evening gathering after the golf outing that will be held at the Red McCombs Red Zone. There, dinner will be served and will feature live music and a short program honoring our veterans.
The Folds of Honor Foundation is a non-profit organization who awards scholarships for postsecondary education for children/spouses of military men and women that were killed or disabled while serving the United States of America. The founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation is Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 fighter pilot of the Air National Guard, he will be the one addressing everyone at the Red McCombs Red Zone as well. Throughout the past four years, the Patriot Golf Day events have raised the likes of more than $5 million dollars and helped provide help for over 2,000 families in all 50 states.
