Yorba Linda, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2011
OS Business Interiors, a division of Office Solutions, the largest Southern California independent commercial office product, furniture, and technology supplier, announced today the winner of the “Ugliest Classroom Contest”.
OS Business Interiors held an “Ugliest Classroom Contest” throughout many Orange and Los Angeles County school districts from September 12th through October 17th, 2011. Schools were asked to participate by submitting photographs of their schools’ ugliest classrooms along with how the classroom is used and a compelling reason as to why they deserved to win. The winning classroom will receive all new furniture featuring a new classroom furniture line called Smartlink by HON. Schools learned of the contest through OS Business Interiors email-blasts, providing flyers and visiting school districts. The winner was selected by an Office Solutions companywide vote.
The contest winner is Fernando R. Ledesma High School (a continuation high school in the El Monte Union High School District). David Cravitz, OS Business Interiors Vice President will congratulate Ledesma High School Principal Freddy Arteaga on Monday, November 21st, with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by the classroom installation at 11:00 a.m., located at 12347 Ramona Boulevard, El Monte, CA.
The winning classroom presently serves as a multi-purpose room for resource testing groups, clubs and many different groups throughout the day. Principal Arteaga nominated this classroom for the contest due to “this class currently holds borrowed folding tables and chairs which are well worn, riddled with graffiti, warped and faded in color. This room is used by so many students who come from all of the comprehensive high schools in the El Monte Union High School District. Selecting this classroom would be helping students in three communities -- El Monte, South El Monte and Rosemead”, wrote Arteaga.
“With so many Southern California schools teaching daily with inadequate facilities, OS Business Interiors embraces any opportunity to help make a difference for students as well as to help turn an educator’s dream of a new classroom into a reality”, said Office Solutions’ President, Bob Mairena. “It is within our core company values to always give back to our local communities whenever possible”, concluded Mairena.
