Prior to opening Old Newport Realty, Ford interviewed dozens of sellers who were either looking to sell, had already sold or had an expired listing. Said Ford, “it was obvious sellers were caught in a competitive marketplace that had hundreds of listings yet only a handful of closed sales transactions reported each month.” While conducting his due diligence on the marketplace and the activities of local agents, Ford found that there wasn’t much to differentiate one sales agent from another - no matter what brokerage they were affiliated with. “It’s as if the brokers all read from the same operating manual since they all offered the same menu of services,” said Ford.
It was clear to Ford, that the service that would clearly differentiate one agent or one brokerage from another was marketing, something that Ford is heavily experienced in and is also very passionate about. “A retail product lives or dies by how it’s packaged and so does real estate. It’s not necessarily the price or condition of the property that is instrumental to the sale, but most likely how well [or not] it was marketed that makes a difference of a sale,” he said.
