Award from Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes Growth and Excellence

GovDelivery, a leader in providing world-class digital communications solutions for the public sector, was awarded the 2011 Deubener Award by the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce. GovDelivery won the award in the For-Profit category, which honors businesses that exemplify growth, excellence, risk, diversity and innovation.

“GovDelivery exemplifies what is best about St. Paul and our members across the East Metro. It is a company that was started in a St. Paul basement and has grown up in our community over the past ten years creating great jobs and giving back to the community at every opportunity,” said Matt Kramer, President of the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce.

“GovDelivery has always been proud to be a Saint Paul company, and we’re thrilled to be recognized by the Saint Paul Chamber. GovDelivery strives for excellence in helping our public sector customers reach more people to broaden their effectiveness; automate their complex communications to be more efficient; and engage the public to increase satisfaction with government and drive more value for the people. We’re honored that the Chamber recognizes our achievements,” said Scott Burns, CEO and co-Founder of GovDelivery.

This award adds to the growing list of honors that GovDelivery has received, including the Twin Cities Business Journal’s “Fast 50” list of fastest growing private companies five times, recognition as the 38th fastest growing urban company in America by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City out of Harvard Business School in 2011, and the Sustainable St. Paul award in 2011 in the Green Products category.

The Deubener Award, which is given annually, is named after Walter and Lydia Deubener, who owned a grocery store in downtown Saint Paul and invented the first shopping bag with handles, which increased the store’s business overnight. The couple eventually sold their store and established manufacturing facilities in Saint Paul, with sales in 1919 totaling one million bags.
