Slide4less Inc and Hermes Medical have introduced a new multi-use hot air vaporizer that represents the pinnacle of technology in the field. "One of the biggest health factors with smoking or incensing is that smoke contains harmful carcinogenic tar. Steinberg also said, "It holds a temperature range of +-1.5°, the best in the industry. The miniVAP is designed like many vapeorizers to heat material from temperatures of 266° to 446° F where medically active vapors are produced, but below the threshold of combustion where smoke is formed. We find consistently that vapors from the miniVAP have always been found to consist overwhelmingly of the major active components, whereas combusted smoke contains over 100 other additional chemicals, including several toxins that are common in smoke. One intriguing, underlying question that helps fuel development of vaporizers is whether the respiratory hazards of smoke are primarily due to toxic byproducts of combustion, not the active ingredients in the material vaporized. The early studies suggests that many of the respiratory hazards of smoking, for example, can be eliminated with the miniVAP."
Mr Romar added that, "The miniVAP removes many potentially addictive compounds from smoke and it is potentially a bridge to curtailing smoking in much the same way that a nicotine patch is used as part of a "stepping-stone" approach to quitting smoking. However, note that the current version of the miniVAP is a consumer product. The miniVAP is not a medical device and is not FDA approved. We plan on applying for FDA approval on a very similar device that we plan on targeting to several medical markets. We recommend that users consult your physician before using the miniVAP for any therapeutic purpose."
Mr Steinberg says that the miniVAP can be used for vaporizing herbal alternatives such as sage leaves (salvia officinalis), hops cones (humulus lupulus), and the flowers of chamomile (matriarca chamomilla). Vaporizing thyme herb (thymus vulgaris), lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) and eucalyptus (eucalyptus globules) leaves, and lavender (lavendula angustifolia) flowers, also works well, according to the company's test results. Mr Steinberg says, "The miniVAP may reduce harmful toxins from smoke, as well as reduce potential toxins from a wide variety of other medicinal and herbal substances. However only recently have studies analyzed the gas phase of the vapor for a wide range of toxins from various types of plants. Research is therefore only in its fundamental stages."
The miniVAP is effective for much more than simple herbs. The device shows potential as an alternative for transfer of not only plant materials but also a wide range of medicinal compounds. Mr Steinberg says, "Gas has long been accepted as an effective means for transfer of several kinds of medicinal compounds.
