Well, this year’s Gold winner pulled off an extremely impressive feat. Clare Florist was able to
better segment their emails to tie into the unique motivations of their audience, with very little
investment.

MarketingSherpa have just announced the winners of the 7th Annual MarketingSherpa Email Awards. The contest is sponsored by Responsys and features the best email marketing of the year.

Attacat Internet Marketing has been selected as the GOLD winner in the Best Personalization/Segmentation Strategy category for an email campaign on behalf of their client Clare Florist.

Beating a campaign by Microsoft into silver medal position, David Clark – Account Manager for the Clare Florist account said:
“We’re delighted to be recognised for the extensive email marketing work we’ve been doing with Clare Florist over the months. The email marketing strategies that we use are closely linked to our ongoing Conversion Rate Optimisation work and are based on the in-depth research we do with all clients before creating strategies – we operate a simple but effective message for all activity. Fingers crossed I’ll get to collect the award at the MarketingSherpa email summit in Las Vegas next year!”

The Campaign

The premise was to target specific recipients with products that they had previously bought. Instead of sending one blanket email to all recipients the templates we tailored so that the customer received offers for products they had already bought and shown they had liked. The strategy being that if we show the customer products they are interested in and strip out others that could be a distraction then they are much more likely to follow through and convert to a sale. This turned out to be the case and the targeted emails were twice as likely to be opened and generated more than 4 times the revenue of the control group.

For full details of the campaign see the case study on the Attacat website.

Ben Rogers, Director of Attacat Internet Marketing said:
“We’re always happy to have our campaigns recognised in this way – and especially by such a highly regarded organisation as MarketingSherpa whose awards always attract tough competition. The work done by the team on this project, as with all projects, was superb and I take great pride in their accomplishments. I look forward to next year’s awards!”

David Marshall, Owner of Clare Florist said:
“I’m very happy with the work that Attacat have done for my company – both in terms of the Email Marketing but also all the other areas of the business that Attacat have a hand in. With these things the impact on my revenue is always more important than awards but I’m very happy with the results that were generated from this campaign!”
