Annual Award Will Benefit Charitable or Philanthropic Organizations While Honoring Students and Alumni for Distinguished Scholarship, Innovation, or Service

California Southern University is pleased to announce the CalSouthern Difference Award. The award will be presented annually to a CalSouthern student or alumnus who makes a difference in his or her area of practice, field of study, or local community through distinguished scholarship, innovation, or service.

“CalSouthern was founded more than 33 years ago to enable non-traditional students to pursue academic excellence and distinguished achievement in their chosen fields, as well as to equip them to contribute meaningfully to their communities,” says University President Dr. Caroll Ryan. “The entire university is continually inspired by the accomplishments of the growing international community of CalSouthern students and graduates. By establishing the CalSouthern Difference Award, we can recognize and celebrate those current students and alumni who further CalSouthern’s ideals and represent the university so honorably.”

The recipient of the first annual CalSouthern Difference Award will be named January 23, 2012 at a ceremony at CalSouthern’s Irvine, California campus, with a luncheon to follow. The CalSouthern Difference Award will be accompanied by a $2,500 donation to be made by the university—in the recipient’s name—to a charitable or philanthropic organization of the recipient’s choosing.
