Dickinson, ND (PRWEB) November 09, 2011
Bakken Oil Express LLC (BOE), is pleased to announce that the first unit train loaded with crude oil at its facility departed via the BNSF Railway, on November 7, and is destined for St. James, Louisiana. Located just west of Dickinson, the BOE Rail Hub has initial take away capacity of 100,000 BOPD and is the first multi-shipper crude by rail unit train facility in North Dakota.
BOE will receive oil by both truck and pipeline. The first train departing included 103 oil tank cars containing approximately 70,000 barrels of oil transported for BOE’s anchor shipper, Eighty-Eight Oil.
“Beginning operations as the first multi-shipper unit train facility to open in North Dakota is a tremendous achievement for our team,” said John Wadsworth, Director of Engineering and Construction for BOE and owner of Piping and Equipment, lead contractor for the project.” We would also like to thank Eighty-Eight Oil, our operator Strobel Starostka Transfer, and the Burlington Northern Railway for helping make this project an important strategic asset for North Dakota producers seeking efficient access to more markets around the country.”
Construction of the Bakken Oil Express began in the 4th quarter of 2010, and the November 2011 startup marks the completion of “Phase 1” of the development. BOE has plans in place that would allow for rapid expansion to over 250,000 BOPD of capacity, making the facility capable of handling any and all volumes moving from the Bakken play to the BNSF southern line, which passes through Belfield and Dickinson as it traverses North Dakota. With over 320 acres zoned, the facility can also accommodate multi-purpose input facilities for sand and other materials.
BOE plans to hold an official grand opening later in November.
