"There needs to be state wide unified installation practices in Pennsylvania," stated Mark Hald.
New Castle, DE (PRWEB) November 11, 2011
Suntricity Power a residential and commercial solar energy design, integration, and installation company, today announced that it added an additional half megawatt of residential solar installations to date in 2011. The rapid growth was thanks to aggressive Pennsylvania solar incentives and a surge in Delaware Energy Efficiency projects.
The projects were installed across three states and required coordination of 50 different municipalities on both engineering and permitting. "This many residential installations across our service area is a feat to accomplish," stated Mark Hald of Suntricity Power, "there really needs to be state wide unified installation practices to eliminate some of the hurdles with the process, it could greatly reduce costs, but we are very pleased with the final results."
The recent change in rebates has cooled the Pennsylvania and New Jersey solar markets. "We have seen a slowing in residential solar purchases, and have made changes to position with the new market," stated James Bowler, Sr. Field Manager Suntricity, "We have also recently moved from sub contracting to all in house installations, which has meant stronger quality control."
There are still a few problems in the solar program that remain in the Pennsylvania solar market besides the lack of unified installation practices. Pennsylvania is trying to improve and stabilize its SREC market with HB1580. The bill has bipartisan support and with a bit of effort will should move through and assist in bringing transparency and stabilized pricing to the SREC markets. This will be achieved by raising the SREC requirements for utility companies for the next three years and closing the state SREC borders for systems installed after January 1, 2012.
