Popular chat social network Wireclub.com adopts MongoDB and releases comprehensive migration case study.
Canadian-owned Wireclub Media Inc. announced today that Wireclub.com, its flagship instant chat service, has been successfully converted to run on top of MongoDB, an open source NoSQL database developed by 10gen.
"There is a strong demand for the service we provide which is a chat network where users can share as much or as little about themselves as they feel comfortable with” explains Braden Evans, Wireclub’s co-founder.
To celebrate the landmark milestone of signing up over 3 million users and to accommodate an increased flow of new users they have released a new version of Wireclub.com which was built from the ground up to incorporate the latest technologies available.
“We are experiencing rapid growth in the North American market and we are now prepared to meet the demand thanks to the advanced clustering and replication capabilities provided by MongoDB” says Mr. Evans.
By embracing MongoDB, Wireclub joins the ranks of Craigslist, Disney and Foursquare all of which have also made significant investment in the platform.
To give back to the development community, Wireclub has released a comprehensive case study which was made available at: http://www.wireclub.com/development/mongodb-case
