Solana Beach, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2011
With the temperature at 75 degrees and light winds, the fall afternoon disguised itself as a summer day and provided ideal kicking conditions as kickers, punters, and long snappers attempted to take their best shot at achieving a good ranking on the National Camp Series (NCS) newly launched KIX (Kicking IndeX) Player Rating Rating.
The KIX Rating System was created by former NFL kicker and NCS founder Michael Husted.
The NCS event, hosted by former Idaho State University's kicker and NFL Prospect, Dan Zeidman of Lifetime Kicking Academy, drew some of the area's best college prospects to compete with each-other. More importantly, players had the opportunity to see where they rank along with other kickers from across the nation on the NCS KIX Rating System.
"The conditions were prime for the specialists. Even though all the specialist did well, there were a couple of the kickers really capitalized on the opportunity," said Zeidman.
Jake Wyckoff (Class of 2012) from Skyline High School in Salt Lake City, UT, just finished up his high school season.
“Jake is a solid athlete and has developed solid form on his punts and kickoffs. He has the work ethic and I expect good things from him moving forward," said Zeidman. "Wyckoff had some powerful kickoffs and was, by far, the best high school punter out here today."
Tanner Stokes (Class of 2013) from Preston High School in Preston, ID, showed a lot of improvement from from previous camps, according Zeidman.
"Tanner has the ability to kick and punt well and displayed a lot of power," said Zeidman. "I can see that he has been working hard."
Stokes averaged just over 62 yards per kickoff and went 7-10 on his field goals.
Both Wyckoff and Stokes have been selected as to the NCS' All Region West Team that Zeidman will coach at the NCS Super Camp down in Orlando, FL on February 18th and 19th, 2012.
According to Ziedman, the Salt Lake City, UT, camp was a success and provided a great opportunity for specialists in the mountain region to get ranked using the new NCS KIX Player Rating System.
