The opening of K’SCOPE in China will enable us to help our partners navigate the strategic design and product development cycle so they can build competitive products and winning brands.
Cincinnati, OH, USA, and Shanghai, China (PRWEB) November 12, 2011
Kaleidoscope Inc., a US-based strategic product development and design firm, announced this week the establishment of K’SCOPE, a wholly owned subsidiary in China, and the opening of its first design studio in Kunshan, China, near Shanghai. Earlier this year, the city government of Kunshan selected K’SCOPE as a key firm to provide strategic product and brand development services to its community of manufacturers in multiple industries. K’SCOPE plans to open another studio in downtown Shanghai in 2012.
Expansion into China offers Kaleidoscope’s current and future business partners a trusted source for the design and development of products in Far Eastern markets.
“As an organization, we identified three reasons to locate in China,” said Matt Kornau, CEO of Kaleidoscope. “First, we could extend our relationships with US clients who are building global brands. Second, we could collaborate on design projects with a China-based partnering firm that offers complementary capabilities. And finally, we could develop projects with manufacturers in China seeking strategic design expertise to globalize their domestic brands. The opening of K’SCOPE in China will enable us to help our partners navigate the strategic design and product development cycle so they can build competitive products and winning brands.”
Mu-kai Shen, K’SCOPE Director of Asia Operations, will manage the new office, bringing Kaleidoscope’s core competencies to North American partners as well as to Chinese domestic brands. “This location will allow us to better understand the local environment and be a bridge to US partners seeking opportunities in China,” said Shen. Before opening the office in China, Shen served as a design manager at Kaleidoscope. Prior to joining the company, he designed products in Taiwan, China and the US. His work has garnered recognition from the global design community.
“Manufacturers in China understand the unique value that US design firms bring to the table,” Shen noted. “In fact, one of our differentiators is that while Chinese manufacturers focus on the technical aspects of products, K’SCOPE offers front-end product development and research expertise to empower design solutions and brands that will meet the needs of the next generation of global consumers.”
Over the last decade, Kaleidoscope has made notable strides in establishing the company as a global firm. “We want to be as global as our partners so we can fully support them wherever they need our services,” said Kornau. “We’ve developed international design programs. We’ve hired multinational, bilingual employees. We’ve studied the global marketplace to understand where our clients fit in the landscape. In turn, US-based clients seeking global presence have come to us for international insights. With the opening of K’SCOPE, we’re leading the pack when it comes to on-site strategic product development and design.”
K’SCOPE supports automotive, medical, consumer packaged goods and ruggedized electronics markets. A full spectrum of services, including consumer research, branding, design, engineering, visual communication and software development, provides a strategic value proposition to its partners.
