Our understanding of the Southern California marketplace and Marriott International’s authority as a premier hotelier is a recipe for a partnership that is highly successful in its ventures,” said Robert Olson, CEO/president, R.D. Olson Development.

Hotel developer, R.D. Olson Development, has opened the doors to its Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 3501 Seagate Way in Oceanside, Calif. to eagerly awaiting tourists, the growing business community and visitors of Camp Pendleton. The hotel, which was built by R.D. Olson Construction was completed three weeks ahead of schedule, making it possible for holiday travelers to make early reservations.

The world’s leading hotelier, Marriott International, will manage the hotel, while R.D. Olson Development retains ownership.

The Oceanside hotel represents the newest prototype design of the Courtyard by Marriott, the company’s largest brand by room count. It is the first new build of the reinvented Courtyard by Marriott to open in San Diego County, showcasing new amenities and upgrades that cater to business and leisure travelers alike.

The 79,000-square-foot four-story Courtyard by Marriott houses 142 guest rooms and suites. The city’s booming business community will now enjoy 2,000 square feet of new meeting space. The guest rooms too are especially accommodating to people who travel frequently for business and want to optimize their productivity, but still want to enjoy their personal time. The hotel also has a relaxing appeal and is infused throughout with artwork reflective of the city’s beachside style and culture.

The Courtyard by Marriot lobby merges high-tech, high style and functionality. More than just a space to pass through, the sophisticated lobby is designed to generate a connection with guests. The new lobby’s welcome pedestals eliminate the traditional barrier of a front desk and invite a warm and natural intersection between guests and staff. An innovative and interactive GoBoard displays news, weather, traffic, local restaurants and documents, while semi-enclosed media pods featuring individually controlled flat-panel televisions offer a place to work, meet or relax. The new food and beverage element–The Bistro–gives guests a choice, not just in food, but in service style, from grab-‘n-go options to full-service sit-down dining. Extending from the lobby is an outdoor terrace where a welcoming fire pit lends itself to social gatherings and conversation. The hotel also includes a fitness room, large outdoor pool and spa.

Adding to its appeal, the hotel is strategically located within the Ocean Ranch development in the City of Oceanside. Ocean Ranch is home to many fortune 500 companies. It will attract visitors in route to such popular nearby attractions as the San Luis Rey Mission, Legoland, SeaWorld, San Diego Wild Animal Park and, of course, Oceanside’s pristine beaches.

This is the second hotel Irvine-based R.D. Olson Development has built in San Diego County. Residence Inn by Marriott, which was completed in 2007 and readily became a huge success, was the first.

Johnson Braund Design Group of Seattle, Wash. provided the architectural and interior design services.

Robert Olson founded R.D. Olson Development in 1998, which has since gained standing as a leading hotel developer. The development company recently broke ground on yet another Courtyard by Marriott in Goleta. In addition, R.D. Olson Development is wrapping up work on the Courtyard by Marriott Maui, the island’s first Kahului airport hotel. Other California developments include a Marriott Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo, Calif.--a combined 174-room full-service Marriott Renaissance Hotel brand and 70,000-square-foot world-class fitness center; five-story 166-room Residence Inn by Marriott in Burbank, Calif. that caters to the entertainment industry; and Residence Inn by Marriott in Oceanside, which upon opening in 2007, represented Marriott’s newest prototype for the extended-stay market.
