As part of being named this year’s Mazda Shootout winner he will also join the MazdaSpeed Motorsports Development Driver ladder program as part of the Class of 2012. The MazdaSpeed ladder helps aid and develop young drivers into potential professional drivers.

The winner of this year’s challenge, Elliot Skeer , is a 17-year Junior at High Tech High in San Marcos, California. Skeer has said he wants to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, but hasn’t declared to a college yet.

Skeer won a $75,000 prize, which is the most lucrative in all of club racing. Elliot praised Mazda and this challenge by stating that, "without this shootout and the MazdaSpeed ladder, the path to the top looks like a giant maze. This just changed my life and is helping me realize that it is possible to make my dream a reality and become a professional driver. I would also like to thank my sponsors; Rush Motorsport, Anthony Woodford Racing, and Pelican Replacement Windows. I can't wait for the adventure to begin."
