“We were welcomed in Churchill by a great group of people who care for these bears, and we wanted to provide a live streaming solution to share with the world,” said Camzone Networks CEO Jim Fitzgerald.

This fall, the Polar Bear Cam (polarbearcam.com) web site was launched with the goal of educating the public on the status of polar bears using high-definition continuous live streaming video from the tundra. The HD cameras, setup and maintenance is being performed by Camzone Networks in San Diego, CA. The Polar Bear Cam camera setup took hours of careful design and attention to detail as each of the three live cameras were installed on the Tundra Buggy®, and on the Frontiers North Tundra Buggy® Lodge. In Churchill Manitoba these migrating bears congregate in the area for 4 – 6 weeks waiting for the ice to form and carry them off on their annual journey to hunt for seals out on the sea ice. Camzone Networks ensured that all of the cameras and wireless Internet HD streaming was ready to capture the images of these Bears as they wait.
“We're thrilled to assist in this one of a kind assignment and honored that Explore.org chose Camzone Networks to capture the live images of the migrating polar bears.” “We were welcomed in Churchill by a great group of people from Polar Bears International and Frontiers North Adventures who care for these bears, and we wanted to provide a live streaming solution to share with the world,” said Camzone Networks CEO Jim Fitzgerald. "This project certainly fits the type of work we strive to do every day; I would say that this is our most unique project since we began streaming the panda bears for the San Diego Zoo in 1996.”
