"I'm proud to be a part of this worthwhile event," remarked Ivo. "There is nothing more rewarding than to see that, in some small way, we can make a positive impact in a person's life."

Cumar, Inc., celebrated designers of luxury marble and granite, are proud to co-host the first annual Mentors in Design (MIDDIES) award on November 17, 2011 the Boston International Fine Art Show at the Cyclorama in Boston's South End. The event follows on the successful MIDDIE launch last year when Grammy award winner Patti Austin was presented with the inaugural award for her mentoring initiatives and for welcoming her into the design world as she transitioned from mentor in music to mentee in design.

With over 350 of the top local designers in attendance, the first annual MIDDIES will honor individuals who are recognized by their peers as giving generously of their time to mentor young designers. Inspired by the work of mentoring organization, the Over My Shoulder Foundation, the award is not just a symbolism of skills passed on by generations of crafts people but also a testament to the hard work and dedication that is indicative of the design industry.

Mr. Angelo Ivo Cubi, founder of renowned Cumar, Inc., has fostered mentoring and opportunity throughout his career. Ivo understands the impact that mentoring can have on young designers because he hails from seven generations of family who mentored him in the marble business.” This is an incredible moment for everyone here at Cumar, explains Cumar employee, stone designer Dawn Carroll who is also co-founder of the Over My Shoulder Foundation. The award creation is truly a testament to Ivo’s infectious spirit and pride in the company that translates into a family of diligent employees who stand firmly behind every stone that leaves Cumar.”

"I'm proud to be a part of this worthwhile event," remarked Ivo. "There is nothing more rewarding than to see that, in some small way, we can make a positive impact in a person's life."

This sentiment is shared by the design industry and especially the employees of Cumar, Inc. who have enjoyed, firsthand, the trust and support that the company and founder engender.

Everett, MA-based Cumar, Inc. provides New England with the most exquisite creations from marble, granite and other fine stones. With a long family history of unyielding passion for stonework, the Cumar legacy in Massachusetts began with owner Angelo Ivo Cubi. Ivo was born in Verona, Italy, a city housing some of the world’s oldest and most established stone suppliers. He was taught at an early age how to select, fabricate and install marble and granite. He used his passion, experience and material knowledge to establish Cumar, Inc. in 1992, specializing in importing marble and granite from his native Italy. Cumar quickly grew into one of the Northeast’s most successful natural stone fabricators and importers and is widely known for its “Couture Stone” creations.
