AddVal, Inc., a nationwide medical credentialing firm, recently announced a program to help Medicare providers cope with the new mandate for revalidation of the individual enrollment records. As part of a massive anti-fraud effort required by the health system reform law, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced earlier this year that all providers and suppliers who enrolled in Medicare, prior to March 25, 2011, must revalidate their enrollment information. This mandated revalidation affects almost all providers and suppliers who are currently enrolled in the Medicare program.

“This mandate will no doubt cause already over-burdened physicians and their staffs additional problems as they seek to meet the deadlines and avoid losing their Medicare reimbursements,” explained Michelle McFarlane, founder and CEO of AddVal, Inc. “Our revalidation support program is aimed at helping physicians quickly and cost-efficiently meet this revalidation challenge without interrupting their practice workflow. Most physicians completed the PECOS project in 2010. However, this revalidation is another, separate request from Medicare.”

Between now and March 23, 2013, notices will be sent to the Medicare physicians to begin the revalidation process. Upon receipt of the request, physicians have 60 days from the date of the letter to submit completed enrollment forms. Failure to submit the forms as requested may result in the deactivation of Medicare billing privileges.

“The most efficient way to submit revalidation information is to use the Internet-based PECOS. This online system allows for review of information currently on file. We can help providers update and submit their revalidation via the Internet or via paper – whichever they prefer. In addition, we can insure all documents are printed, signed, dated, and mailed to their MACS immediately, along with all required supporting documentation.” McFarlane added.
