OATI and Alliance Members Test Interoperability of OpenADR 2.0 Smart Grid Standard

Open Access Technology International, Inc., (OATI) announces its successful participation in PlugFest, testing interoperability of the OpenADR 2.0 Smart Grid standard. Hosted by Kansas City Power & Light, OATI joined other OpenADR Alliance members in this two-day effort, and successfully demonstrated bi-directional interoperability using the OASIS Energy Interoperation OpenADR 2.0 Profile.

OATI webDistribute (U.S. patent pending), the leading Demand Response solution for commercial, industrial, and residential customers, is used by host utilities as the platform and applications needed to improve power system reliability, economics, and environmental compliance by integrating Demand Response (DR) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) with power system and energy market operations.

OATI webDistribute addresses current and emerging operational requirements, including end-to-end integration from HAN devices to utility and market operations, complex DR/DER programs, and plug-in electric vehicles. Additionally, OATI webDistribute provides ancillary services from demand-side resources for balancing variable generation, environmental compliance tracking, and distribution congestion management. Designed with incremental deployment capabilities, it leverages existing utility legacy systems and data, smart metering, and communications capabilities while adhering to stringent cyber security, information privacy measures, and NERC CIP standards.

“PlugFest provided the opportunity for OATI to demonstrate the advanced interoperability of webDistribute, which brings together customer and resource management, DR and DER dispatch and control, Distribution Grid Monitoring and Congestion Management, as well as integration with system operations. Built on the award-winning OATI Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment, webDistribute supports industry standards for enterprise and business-to-business interoperability,” stated Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO of OATI.

As a member of the OpenADR Alliance, a nonprofit corporation created to foster the development, adoption and compliance of a Smart Grid standard known as Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR), OATI is committed to ensuring its Smart Grid solutions solve problems and position the industry to implement next-generation solutions to ensure grid reliability throughout the industry.
