The UPS Store and Mail Boxes, Etc.(MBE) are the 4,700-location retail shipping, postal, print and business service center franchise chain known throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The UPS Store is being featured in a public awareness campaign this fall put together by the International Franchise Association (IFA).

The purpose of the campaign is to highlight the success of franchising in the economy.
The IFA hopes to educate not only the public, but members of Congress about the positive economic impact of franchising which includes more than 18 million jobs and $2.1 trillion to the economy in 2010.

The UPS Store campaign highlights veteran George Berkeley of South Orange, N.J. Berkeley opened his store with incentives and discounts from the IFA-sponsored VetFran program.

The UPS Store trained approximately 150 The UPS Store representatives in the latest software and digital printing and finishing technologies.

The approach to this training was notable in that it included the Graphic Communication Institute (GrCI) at California Polytech State University.

In order to train representatives, The UPS Store and GrCI major manufacturers of commercial printing equipment installed their machines at GrCI and The UPS Store® trainees completed their training at GrCI on the new equipment.

This unique partnership effort improved the knowledge level of advanced printing throughout The UPS Store network.

Just recently The UPS Store announced a package of financial incentives made available to assist up to 10 qualified U.S. military veterans open their own The UPS Store. The incentives are valued at approximately $300,000.

With this pledge, The UPS Store is participating in the “Operation Enduring Opportunity” initiative launched by the White House, the IFA, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and franchise companies including Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. , the company that franchises The UPS Store network.

The goal of “Operation Enduring Opportunity” is to recruit and/or hire up to 75,000 U.S. military veterans and their family members by the end of 2014.

Earlier this year, The UPS Store network of franchises announced their participation with a franchisee lending program created by Franchise America Finance™(FAF) and The Bancorp Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Bancorp, Inc.

Clearly The UPS Store franchise system is actively endeavoring to expand the size of their system by developing and participating in unique programs that benefit both The UPS Store franchisees and The UPS Store business and individual customers.
