NitroDesk®, Inc. today announced the availability of TouchDown™, their Exchange email client on Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet. TouchDown™ is available in the Amazon Appstore for Android under the name “Exchange By TouchDown”, and sports a tabbed user interface optimized for the Kindle Fire.

TouchDown is currently used by hundreds of thousands of Android users to send and receive emails as well as interact with their contacts, calendar, tasks and notes stored on Microsoft Exchange® servers. The latest version is available through the Amazon Appstore for Android on the Kindle Fire and includes several optimizations that make the application better utilize the increased screen real estate and improve navigability and aesthetics on the device. TouchDown is unique in its ability to show a tabbed and split-pane user interface for Exchange® ActiveSync on Android 2.x devices.

“We have strived hard to balance usability and functionality of the application with the security needs of enterprise IT administrators. We are hopeful that enterprises would find the combination of TouchDown and Kindle Fire acceptable within their networks, thanks to the heavy emphasis we place on Security and Data Loss Prevention.” said Ron Goins, COO of NitroDesk, Inc.

TouchDown supports Exchange Activesync (EAS) policies for PIN enforcement, remote data wipe and data encryption. Additionally, TouchDown on the Kindle Fire supports several leading Mobile Device Management solutions. This provides the enterprise with a wide range of choices when it comes to securing the device within the enterprise and also providing the administrator with the ability to enable auto configuration, application policy specification as well as selective data wipe.

A 30 day trial version of TouchDown is available in the Amazon Appstore for Android under the title “Exchange by TouchDown”, which can be subsequently activated by purchasing and installing the “Exchange by TouchDown Key” application.
