Major New Functionality for Busy Business Professionals to Opt for Manual Business Cards Transcription

ScanBiz Mobile Solutions today announced the availability of an option to submit business cards for manual transcription in both the iPhone and Android versions of the application. While ScanBizCards' normal operation remains scanning card images using OCR technology within seconds on the phone, manual transcription meets the needs of some business professionals who prefer 100% accuracy every time through human verification. The manual transcription option carries an additional modest fee.

Unlike some other manual transcription apps, ScanBizCards uses an in-house dedicated transcription team - not the Amazon Mechanical Turk service - for increased privacy, more accurate results and much faster completion time. While ScanBizCards just became the best manual transcription option on iOS devices, it is the only transcription option currently available on Android phones and tablets. All manually transcribed cards appear in the same digital rolodex as other scanned cards, and all of ScanBizCards’ 32 advanced management and networking features are available for manually transcribed cards. In addition, all cards are accessible in real time from any browser in the user's ScanBizCards Web Sync account.

ScanBizCards is unlike any other business card reader with features usually reserved for full-blown, expensive enterprise CRM applications. Built specifically for the networked web, ScanBizCards 3.11 boasts new features that turn the iPhone into a powerful contact relationship management device. Support is available for scanning cards in 22 languages: Czech, Danish, English, German, Greek, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovakian, Spanish, Serbian, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Simply snapping a picture of a business card effortlessly adds its information to contacts, then enables a series of actions to follow-up, connect and forward the card’s information to colleagues and partners through multiple web and mobile channels.

Exporting options include a direct export into or Daylite CRM as well as exporting into an Excel CSV for integration with other CRM apps or apps such as Constant Contact, or exporting contacts to (Jigsaw) and Evernote. ScanBizCards is also the only iPhone scanning application with real-time backup of cards to the cloud, synchronization of cards across multiple devices as well as a web-based application to manage cards from any browser.

ScanBizCards is also a full desktop scanning solution enabling the upload of card images from a flatbed scanner for scanning online - all fully synchronized with iOS and Android devices, allowing office workers to share cards in real time with a mobile workforce. ScanBizCards turns business cards (or any image) into opportunities by putting a powerful mobile contact, social networking and calendar management system in the palm of your hand.
“As ScanBizCards evolved into an increasingly powerful and complex card management tool used on multiple mobile devices as well as the desktop, the volume of cards scanned by many users kept increasing and it became evident that offering a manual transcription option was necessary to meet the needs of some users. Delivering that functionality enable access to all 32 extended ScanBizCards features to a new set of business cards power users," says Patrick Questembert, Co-Founder, ScanBiz Mobile Solutions.

Device Requirements:

  • iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad or Android 2.0 devices or above
  • Note: the iPad 2 and iPod Touch cameras are not sufficient for good photos of business cards. Using the application on these devices requires importing photos from another device.

Pricing and Availability: ScanBizCards Business Card Reader is $6.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) for the iPhone and iOS devices, and $4.99 for the Android version. The manual transcription option is an additional $0.18/card.
