FireFly Farms Creamery & Market (http://www.fireflyfarms.com), producer of artisanal goat cheeses from Maryland’s Allegheny Plateau, is pleased to announce the launch of their seasonal cheese tasting and pairing menus – a surely palatable activity for residents and visitors to Mountain Maryland’s Deep Creek Lake resort area and the surrounding region.

Each of the fall and winter season’s tasting and pairing options has been thoughtfully curated to entice a variety of disparate cheese and pairing preferences. All tasting and pairing experiences will be held in the beautiful FireFly Farms Creamery & Market, located at 107 South Main Street in Accident, Maryland, in Garrett County.

Cheese tasting and pairing experiences will be designed twice annually: for fall and winter, and for spring and summer. “These seasonal pairings will offer us the opportunity to introduce our guests to a new set of carefully selected cheeses, wines, and beers twice annually,” commented FireFly Farms Director for Sales and Marketing, Andrea Cedro. “We’ll focus on celebrating the best of the season in all of our pairing selections, and provide our guests with a new experience each time they visit.”

This first season’s fall and winter pairing experiences include:

  •     “The FireFly Farms Pairing” – Not familiar with our line of cheeses? Fret not, this pairing will acquaint you with our award-winning line of delicious goat cheeses. Participants may choose their favorite of Firefly Farms’ award-winning goat’s milk cheeses.
  •     “Ain’t-Got-No-Blues Pairing” – Are you a cheese lover, but not as keen on blue cheese? This pairing was structured especially with you in mind! Participants may choose from among select FireFly Farms goat’s milk cheeses as well as a hand-picked group of America’s best cow’s milk and sheep’s milk cheeses.
  •     “The Grand Cheese Tour Pairing” – Haven’t encountered a cheese you don’t like? Then, this option is right up your alley! Participants may choose from among select FireFly Farms goat’s milk cheeses as well as a hand-picked group of America’s best cow’s milk and sheep’s milk cheeses, including an impressive set of award-winning blues.

Each of these tasting and pairing experiences may be customized by selecting wine pairings or beer pairings. Non-alcoholic pairings are available upon request.

FireFly Farms’ tasting and pairing experiences are priced at $49.00 per person for three pairings and $65.00 per person for four pairings. Tasting and pairing guests will be greeted at the FireFly Farms Creamery & Market and seated at the market table. The host will provide guests with valuable information on the sensory aspects of cheese tasting and pairing – from aroma to taste, and the balancing of the five essential taste elements: the sour, the salty, the sweet, the bitter, and the savory (or umami).

“We hope to provide our guests with the opportunity to slow down and fully experience each cheese and its accompaniments,” remarked FireFly Farms Chef de Cuisine, Pablo Solanet. “Our modern world is fast, and too often our eating experiences become almost transactional. In addition, guests will enjoy the company of their table.”

Each pairing will include of a two-ounce serving of cheese accompanied by a two-ounce serving of wine. Other delectable treats, selected from the FireFly Farms Creamery & Market, will include an offering of crackers or fresh bread, membrillo, charcuterie, olives, and chilled bottled water. Each pairing guest will also receive a 10 percent discount coupon on all in-store items purchased on the day of their reservation.

Reservations must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance and are subject to availability. We kindly request a two-person minimum per reservation, and a six-person maximum. Pairing reservations will be offered at 2:00pm and 4:00pm, Thursday through Saturday. The first available reservations will be accepted for Friday, November 25th.
