UK: The Game combines the fun of a treasure hunt with the sights, history and insider knowledge of a top-notch tour to create a uniquely entertaining, interactive experience

Stray Boots, the leader in mobile-guided urban games and Wildgoose Events, the UK leader in treasure hunts, today announced the launch of UK: The Game Treasure Hunts.

“The Game” has already proved to be a huge hit in 13 US cities, and now UK: The Game will enable people in the UK to enjoy this unique mobile phone guided treasure hunt, initially in Covent Garden and the City of London.

UK: The Game combines the fun of a treasure hunt with the sights, history and insider knowledge of a top-notch tour to create a uniquely entertaining, interactive experience. UK: The Game uses mobile phone technology to immerse players in enjoyable and informative self-guided, interactive treasure hunts.

UK: The Game is easy to play and works by text message, so customers can play using virtually any UK mobile phone. Players are guided with text messages that include riddles, puzzles, photo opportunities and trivia questions as they visit the points of interest along the route. Each response earns the city explorer points, making it possible to compete between groups of friends, family members, or pre-assigned teams. And since UK: The Game is a completely self-guided experience, players can start whenever they want and set their own pace as they go. Each Treasure Hunt takes about two to three hours to complete.

UK: The Game offers meticulously researched treasure hunts designed to delight Londoners and tourists alike with intriguing facts and amusing activities. For locals looking for something different to do, it makes a great date, family outing, or just a day out on the town with friends. UK: The Game hunts cover the major sights and attractions, but also include interesting "insider" and off-the-beaten-path gems throughout the area.

UK: The Game leads the way with the first two of many treasure hunts:

  •     The Covent Garden treasure hunt takes players on a fun and fascinating journey through the heart of London’s most vibrant district. Players will receive challenges, solve puzzles and have a great time among London’s best shopping, historic theatres, wild street performers, restaurants and pubs. Highlights include Covent Garden Piazza, London’s oldest restaurant, The Palace Theatre, The Royal Opera House, The Lamb & Flag Pub, Savoy Hotel as well as insights into some of Covent Garden’s most interesting historical personalities.
  •     The City of London treasure hunt treats you to a trip through a district brimming with a mix of historical sites and modern Panache. With its roots in Roman times, the City is the birth place of London. Today, it's London's financial hub and is the place where past meets present with interesting features and facts around every corner! Take in the sounds and sights of this fascinating area with our City of London hunt. Highlights include the Great Fire of London, the Bank of England, The Royal Exchange, London's first Coffee House and much more.

Additional districts and cities are coming soon including Westminster, Oxford, Windsor and Edinburgh. More hunts will follow as UK: The Game spreads its treasure hunts across the UK.

UK: The Game is being offered at a special introductory price of £12 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.ukthegame.com.
