The Syrian American Council (SAC) will hold a news conference on Thursday, November 17th, to welcome recent developments in the Syrian uprising, most notably, the Arab League’s decision to freeze the Syrian government’s participation in the League’s committees as a response to Bashar Al-Assad’s violent, eight-month crackdown on protestors.

On Thursday, November 17, SAC will also be holding its annual convention, "United for a Free and Democratic Syria," from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. With guest speakers that include representatives from the U.S. State Department, the Syrian National Council, Congress, and Human Rights Organizations, the purpose is for all to unite in the Syrian march for freedom, dignity and democracy.
The Syrian American Council (SAC) was founded in 2005 to mobilize Syrian Americans to strengthen civil society in Syria, to promote friendly relations between the Syrian and American peoples, to engage civic and governmental organizations to advance civil liberties, human dignity and democracy in Syria. The organization has represented Syrian Americans to the U.S. State Department, Congress, and in international meetings and councils.
