Landmark Oak Lawn Bridal Retailer Opens New Store Following Devastating Electrical Fire of Nov. 18, 2010

Eva's Bridal of Oak Lawn is readying to open chapter three. Grandmother, Eva, started the business in 1964 and helped shape the bridal salon to become an Oak Lawn landmark.    Today, third generation owner, Ronia Ghusein (Eva’s granddaughter), readies to open the family business' new home at 5269 W. 95th Street in Oak Lawn after suffering a total loss resulting from a November 18, 2010 electrical fire.

Eva’s will host a special “Thanksgiving” event on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. whereby special awards will be presented to the village manager, police chief and fire chief of Oak Lawn for their help over the past year.

"I was surprised by my tenacity and self confidence through all this," Ronia explained. "I didn't think I had it in me to completely see us through such a crisis and then start all over." Ronia led the business to continue to purchase inventory and maintain the exclusive arrangements with her top dress designers from around the world. “We didn’t want to lose the exclusive dresses from the designers that we work with,” she said. Her tenacity and hard work paid off. The store was recently awarded the prestigious "Editor's Choice Award" by Brides Magazine.

In addition to receiving this national award, the past year has been filled with all sorts of adventure for Eva’s Bridal. Ronia was invited to attend preview shows by national and international designers so that she could ready 2012 collections. At the same time, she worked through insurance and fire and police reports, maintained clients, inventory, and longtime employees.

Looking back Ronia says that tens of thousands of women have turned to Eva's Bridal of Oak Lawn over 40 years and she was inspired by that history. "The salon has played a part in so many women's lives," Ronia said. "We have many clients who come in and say 'my grandmother or mother got her dress her, and now I'm getting my dress here, and I have profound respect for that sense of generational connection,”

The new store is located at 5269 W. 95th Street -- a mere blocks west of its original home and across the street for Oak Lawn's village hall. The store has beautiful and elegant appointments, a soothing grey hue, and features cul-de-sacs throughout the space intended for brides and their family and friends to enjoy dress reveals and the assorted wedding planning experiences privately and comfortably.

“I’m so ready to begin this next chapter in the Eva’s Bridal story,” Ronia added. “Not only do we offer area brides great collections right off the top runways of the world, but a memorable experience that most bridal salons are not willing or able to give.”
