John Planes, CEO of Planes Moving & Storage, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio has received the United Excellence/Gene Anderson award, which recognizes an individual who has made exceptional contributions to the United Van Lines system. The award is named in honor of the late Gene Anderson of Lubbock, Texas, a long-time United Van Lines Board member and the corporation’s treasurer at the time of his death in 1985. It is given each year to the individual who demonstrates the same strength of character and commitment to quality as Anderson.
Planes’ selection was announced by Richard H. McClure, CEO of United Van Lines, at the van line’s recent convention held in Orlando, Fla. In revealing the winner of this prestigious honor, McClure referred to Planes as “someone who never settles for anything less than the best, especially when it comes to serving his customers.”
Under John Planes’ leadership Planes Moving and Storage has been honored with seven Customer Choice awards or honorable mention for its outstanding quality service. John Planes also served as a member of the UniGroup Board of Directors from 1990 to 2010. UniGroup is the parent company for United Van Lines.
