San Diego’s 4th annual “Toys for Tots Gingerbread Village at Manchester Grand Hyatt

Public votes for favorite gingerbread house among the dozens in the village, all made by approximately 195 students from Downtown’s Monarch School, Barrio Logan’s Perkins Elementary School and Southeast San Diego’s Kimbrough Elementary made all the houses an official Toys for Tots drop-off location.

The San Diego luxury hotel is hosting a private party for the participating students and their families – including parking, food, drink and a cash donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of San Diego by the Manchester Grand Hyatt in the names of the student-team-members whose gingerbread house is voted the favorite. This creates a “Kids Giving to Kids” gingerbread village theme

Daily 12-1-11 through 12-26-11, from 5 a.m. till 1 a.m. Last day to vote is 12/16/11

The village contains:
200 pounds of ginger bread
1,200 peppermint buttons
5,000 candy dots
20 gallons Royal icing
550 pounds of assorted holiday candies, hot tamales, snow caps, candy canes, shredded wheat, licorice, spearmint leaves.
#1 sweetest thing: Filled Toys for Tots bins
In 2010, Marines distributed gifts to 7.2 million children in over 700 communities nationwide.
In 2011, Manchester Grand Hyatt hosted 175 Make-a-Wish families who wished to visit San Diego
