In many households, a pet is like a member of the family, loved and cared for like a child. Parents often keep baby books for their children to keep track the myriad of important information, from medical history to tender memories. Now, pet owners can do the same with Linda Salmon’s new book, Living a Dog’s Life (published by AuthorHouse), a baby book for dogs.

Salmon was inspired to create Living a Dog’s Life by her own pet, Max. Max was diagnosed with Addison’s disease, requiring him to take a regiment of medications. She tells readers that, “If something would have happened and I couldn’t care for him, no one would have known about his special needs. No one would have known that he took his prednisone with cheese. Not only would they not have known what medication he took and how he took it, they would not have known his favorite treat was frosty paws or his favorite toy was a stuffed toy called Ernie.”

She says that she wished she had also written down all the funny things he had done over the years. Now, dog owners can chart the lives of their own animals, incorporating not only crucial health information, but also the fond memories they share together.

Included in Living a Dog’s Life is a journal and an area for scrapbooking, as well as a place to note a pet’s likes and dislikes, veterinary office visits, grooming schedules and more.

“Dogs are like children in so many ways,” explains Salmon.

About the Author
Linda Salmon saw a need for a book like this after she lost her pet. Because she was a dog owner for many years and her last pet required special care, she realized how important it was to have information written down in case someone had to take over the care of a pet.
