On November 18th, the highly-anticipated entry into the Twilight Saga films, “Breaking Dawn: Part 1” debuts in theaters worldwide. In the popular series, vampires and werewolves are front and center in a gripping story of action, romance and young adult drama. In her new book Awaken Me: A Connected Novel (published by iUniverse) Emily Gossett adds a fresh entry into this science fiction/fantasy genre.

Awaken Me gives a much-needed makeover to the world of vampires. “So many books are set in high school, and for the gawky 17-year-old. Aimee is 23, yet has a very youthful look and is not mature in her ways,” she says. “It’s what happens after high school.” Gossett manages to accomplish this while keeping the appeal of why people love these supernatural creatures.

Witty, carefree and dangerous Aimee is thrust into a face-off against the supernatural creatures that haunt her. After witnessing the horrific murder that was committed by her fiancé just days before their wedding, Aimee immediately flees from the life she knows. Lost in Greece, Aimee is thrust into a paranormal world where she is terrified to learn what she really is, while trying to overcome deceit, love and the bloodthirsty power that is so irresistibly deep within her.

Girls will be able to relate to Aimee as she experiences the pressures that young people face daily, all the while trying to figure out the mysteries of the heart.
