Prologue and Xwiki, two participants in the CompatibleOne open source cloud computing project, demonstrate the feasibility of a cloud broker between OpenNebula and OpenStack independent platforms

OW2, the global open source community for open source middleware and generic applications, announced today the first cloud brokerage proof of concept demonstration by the CompatibleOne open source project. CompatibleOne open source cloud broker enables the deployment of applications across different OpenNebula and OpenStack cloud computing heterogeneous infrastructures.

Prologue and Xwiki, two participants in the CompatibleOne open source project have delivered a demonstration showing the deployment of an application on two heterogeneous cloud computing infrastructures. In the demonstration scenario, the consumer defines his or her requirements in a service manifest, requesting some nodes to be deployed on OpenStack and others on OpenNebula. The demonstrator shows how the CompatibleOne broker refers to this manifest to create and execute a provisioning plan satisfying the user constraints. The demonstration illustrates the capabilities of CompatibleOne to interoperate with heterogeneous cloud providers and to aggregate different cloud services.

The demonstration validates the VM interoperability mechanisms as planned by CompatibleOne. It illustrates CompatibleOne's capacity to interoperate with heterogeneous cloud providers and to aggregate various cloud services.

The demonstration took place at the joint meeting between CompatibleOne and the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative held at France Telecom Paris Tech on November 15, 2011. Both Prologue and Xwiki, participants in the CompatibleOne open source project, are corporate members of OW2.
