“The magical properties of the iPad have a natural affinity for shopping and sharing,” said Siva Kumar, CEO of TheFind. “We are excited to bring these new features to our Catalogue App, including Camera View which we know will be a hit with our users."

TheFind (http://www.thefind.com), a social, mobile, and tablet commerce innovator, today unveiled the first significant update to its successful Catalogue by TheFind App for iPad which adds several major new features, including Camera View Augmented Reality, Email Updates from top brand Retailers, notifications of new catalog issues, and sharing of catalog pages via Facebook, Twitter and email.

The Catalogue App now features more than 170 print catalog titles from national and boutique retailers such as Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, Serena & Lily, Nordstrom, Best Buy, Toys R Us and more.
With more than 375,000 downloads on iTunes, Catalogue by TheFind is by far the most popular catalog aggregation app available for the iPad. Catalogue is also available for Android devices and to those without tablet devices, as a Facebook app.
New features in the Catalogue App include:

  •     ‘Camera View’ is a Product Viewer that leverages Augmented Reality and uses the iPad 2’s camera to provide a backdrop of your surroundings so you can intuitively place furniture and home décor items from the catalogs into your living space. You can now snap a photo of how a modern art print from one of the catalogs would look hanging on your wall, or how a desk would fit right in your den. You can then instantly share these pictures by email or with your friends on Facebook. ‘Camera View’ helps you visualize how the items from the catalogs fit in your life, making it simple, easy and fun to shop. Available initially for select products from home furnishings retailers like Crate & Barrel, this capability will rapidly scale to more catalogs and more categories as the Holidays approach.
  •      ‘Email Updates’, just in time for the shopping season, this feature collates and displays all of the recent store news, offers and deals you may be already receiving by email. Many of these deals and offers are interesting and inspire you to buy something, but the steady deluge of new emails overwhelms most consumers. Almost all of these store emails arrive in the morning and get lumped together with all of your work and personal emails. The Catalogue App is typically used in the evenings and hence provides a complementary access point for the same content, but right at the time when you are actually browsing and shopping. The ‘Email Updates’ section on Catalogue provides a pragmatic approach for consumers, making it easy to browse all of today’s email offers–by-store–at your leisure.
  •     ‘Tear a page and post’ to Facebook is a feature that allows people using Catalogue on their iPad to post specific catalog pages or items they find in the app and share with their friends on Facebook. Synched seamlessly with TheFind’s Facebook Catalogue app, it allows their friends who don’t have an iPad or tablet to easily view the same items and catalog pages on Facebook.
  •     ‘New catalog notifications’, now when new catalogs arrive in the app, users are automatically notified via the iPad notification system.

“The magical properties of the iPad have a natural affinity for shopping and sharing,” said Siva Kumar, CEO of TheFind. “We are excited to bring these new features to our Catalogue App, including Camera View which we know will be a hit with our users."

The Catalogue by TheFind App is available for free from the iTunes App Store for the iPad or at http://www.thefind.com/tablet
