Portland, Maine (PRWEB) November 24, 2011
In summer 2012, CIEE will offer International Faculty Development Seminars (IFDS) in Cuba. CIEE was recently approved by the U.S. Treasury Department to once again offer educational programs to faculty and administrators from institutions of higher education. CIEE offered academic, study and professional exchange programs in Cuba from 2000 – 2003.
The CIEE IFDS in Cuba will be in collaboration with the Universidad de la Habana, which, founded in 1728, is the oldest university in Cuba and one of the first in the Americas. It has been at the center of many of the country’s most historic events, and will provide an incomparable experience for immersion into Cuba past, present, and future. We are particularly pleased to continue our two decade-old partnership with the Universidad de la Habana.
Today Cuba is on the cusp of unprecedented political, economic, and social transformation. Liberalization of the Cuban economy, changes in leadership, and renewed interconnectedness with the world are heralding the start of a new era in Cuba. CIEE is delighted to deliver expert programming during such an intriguing time in Cuba, and to bring members of the U.S. and Cuban academic communities together to explore the country’s dramatic history, rich culture, and the profound changes that are under way.
For more than 60 years, CIEE has been providing students, faculty, and study abroad professionals the highest level educational experiences all around the world and we're excited to present these amazing opportunities into Cuba.
