This is the first time in our 114 seasons that we’ll be open in the month of December. We’ve spent the last few months planning light displays, hanging lights and working to make this a unique and memorable holiday experience.

“This is the first time in our 114 seasons that we’ll be open in the month of December,” explains Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas. “We’ve spent the last few months planning light displays, hanging lights and working to make this a unique and memorable holiday experience.”
Nearly 1,000,000 lights, rides, festive foods and, of course, Santa Claus prepare to entertain guests for a Kennywood experience unlike any other.
Every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 PM, the area surrounding the lagoon comes alive through a dazzling Holiday Lights Show featuring everyone’s favorite holiday songs. Each show will last for 15 minutes and there will be two different versions of the show with different music for each show! If live music better suits your taste, visit the Sounds of the Holiday Stage near the Parkside Café. Local choir groups perform every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 PM.
Take a ride on The Gingerbread Express, our holiday version of the Olde Kennywood Railroad complete with its own unique holiday lights theme. Guests can also enjoy a ride on the Kangaroo, Paratrooper, Merry-Go-Round, and select rides in Kiddieland.
Other festive activities include an area for kids to write their own letters to Santa, cookie decorating, a model train display, memorabilia from It’s a Wonderful Life and perhaps one of the most unique opportunities to take a picture with Santa featuring our historic Racer roller coaster station.
Of course, no visit to Kennywood is complete without Potato Patch Fries! Enjoy all your favorite Kennywood foods as well as plenty of seasonal favorites like kettle corn, hot chocolate, s’mores and hot apple dumplings!
