VAPS XT-178 and the VAPS XT-178 CertKit dramatically shorten the time and effort required for producing qualifiable code for embedded displays; greatly reducing the challenges and inherent risks in delivering next-generation, DO-178 certifiable systems.

Presagis™, a leading provider of commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation, and embedded graphics solutions, today announced that VAPS XT-178 CertKit will become available in Spring 2012. The certification kit will support developers in achieving certification of their next-generation real-time embedded display graphics to the most stringent aerospace and defense industry software standard, RTCA DO-178B Level A. The certifiable solution provides a framework for code reuse and compliance for safety- and mission-critical avionics applications.

VAPS XT-178 is the avionics’ industry’s leading standards based COTS software tool for the prototyping, development, and deployment of DO-178B certifiable Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications for safety critical, real-time embedded display graphics in airborne software. The accompanying VAPS XT-178 CertKit will include the artefact set documenting the software life cycle of all VAPS XT-178 generated C++ code, as well as the associated Runtime Libraries. This will eliminate many of the risks in the development and certification of avionics projects. The certification kit will also offer an ARINC 661 add-on module which provides certification artefacts for any Cockpit Display System (CDS) designed for compliance with the ARINC 661 standard. These artefacts have been successfully audited to DO-178B Design Assurance Level (DAL) A; the highest and most critical assurance level in this certification process.
