Grandma Puts Love in her Cookies is a delightful children’s book with a message that transcends all ages. Marjorie Olson writes a playful, yet moving story about finding and sharing love.
Told in verse, the story begins with the age-old question – why do grandma’s cookies always taste the best? The child narrator learns that “the cookies have a special ingredient that comes from above…. It is love.” Determined to see this love, the child goes on a quest to find it. When he cannot find it upstairs, downstairs or under the bed, Grandma comes to the rescue and guides him to the answer: “Only in your heart can love really be found. And love is only love when it is passed all around.”
To help children and adults begin their own quest to find and share love, Marjorie has hidden tiny hearts in her illustrations.
Grandma Puts Love in her Cookies will evoke readers’ memories of baking with their own grandmothers, making the story a sweet reminder of family, love and life lessons learned. Although this is a story for all seasons, readers will find it especially poignant during this holiday season, when families come together and bake love into their own cookies.
