Vias’ Varietal and Terroir-driven Portfolio Receives Four Placements On Wine Spectator’s “Top 100 Wines of 2011”

Wines from the Vias Imports Ltd. portfolio represent almost a quarter of the Tuscan wines, half of the Argentinian wines, and the only wine from Campania that made this year’s list.

Vias Imports Ltd. is proud to announce that four of its portfolio wines were selected from over 16,000 wines by Wine Spectator for the “Top 100 Wines of 2011”.

2009 Argiano NC from Tuscany, 2009 Rocca di Frassinello Le Sughere from Tuscany, 2009 Terredora di Paolo Greco di Tufo from Campania and 2009 Bodega Noemia Malbec from Patagonia are “Top 100 Wines of 2011” honorees, each earning 90 points or more in the Wine Spectator review process.

Wine Spectator selected this year’s list best on the value, availability and “X-factor” of each wine. Special care was taken to showcase wines that reflected extraordinary producers, regions and trends in the wine world.

All four wineries will celebrate their Top 100 wines throughout the American market, showcasing them at Wine Spectator’s 2012 Grand Tour (Dates and locations to be announced by Wine Spectator).

Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2011 Honorees

#46 – Argiano NC 2009, 92pts
“An appealing graphite aroma adds depth to the black currant, violet and cedar aromas and flavors in this svelte red, which is smooth, with finely woven tannins. The bright acidity drives the spicy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese.”

#69 – Rocca di Frassinello Le Sughere 2009, 91pts
“This red is imbued with black currant, cherry and cedar aromas and flavors. The tannins are firm, but nicely entwined with the texture, and this finishes with a harmony of fruit and spice. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.”

#87 – Terredora di Paolo Greco di Tufo 2009, 90pts
“A beauty, focused and fresh, with lively fresh-cut honeydew melon and citrus backed by hints of hot stone and spring herbs on the long, cream-tinged finish. Drink now.”

#100 – Bodega Noemia Noemia 2009, 96pts
“This gorgeous Malbec delivers mulled spice, mocha, blueberry, black tea, plum sauce and currant confiture flavors. A beauty.”
