Oxiem Interactive designed and developed Dayton Public Schools' award-winning website.

Oxiem’s CMS gives users the power to update and change web content instantly.

Designed and developed by Oxiem Interactive, Dayton Public Schools’ (DPS) website was recognized this month as one of the best in the nation by the Sunshine Review, a national nonprofit organization encouraging open government and public oversight.

A web-based marketing agency, Oxiem anchored the DPS website on its proprietary O2 Content Management System (CMS), which allows web administrators to manage the website with total control and make information accessible to the public. The DPS website was one of more than 1,560 school district websites evaluated by the Sunshine Review. Since its inception in 2008, the organization has been dedicated to promoting transparency and freedom of information in state and local government and schools. The DPS A+ rating is considered a perfect score on a 10-point criteria test.

“For organizations that place a high priority on making information easily accessible to their audiences on the web, the O2 Content Management System drives the ability to deliver relevant content," said Billy Fischer, Director of Business Development for Oxiem. “Oxiem’s CMS gives users the power to update and change web content instantly.”

Oxiem began its partnership last year with Dayton Public Schools, which serves 15,000 students pre-k through high school, to create a web system to encompass the administrative office and individual school websites. The site features an integrated calendaring system, image/video galleries, document libraries and department mini-sites.

Oxiem built multiple layers of control into the O2 CMS, which allows the district the ability to track points of entry, measure the website’s effectiveness, upload documents of all file types and edit site content using a simple interface. The Oxiem CMS uses advanced CSS for search engine-friendly and printer-friendly pages, and full control over user groups allows web administrators to define who can edit the website, and how they may edit.

"One of our top priorities in creating and maintaining this website has been to provide as much information as possible for families and other users. Thanks to Oxiem's terrific content management system, it's been an easy process to keep our site updated and fresh. We're also thankful for the terrific Oxiem staff, who are always wonderful to work with and on top of any concerns or additional development ideas we have," said Melissa Fowler, Dayton Public Schools Communications Specialist and Webmaster.
